RENATELSAT CONTINUES ITS EXTENSION PROGRAM THROUGH THE CONGO

The National Satellite Telecommunications Network (Renatelsat) is determined to play its role of transmission medium for state audiovisual and telecommunications operators.

She has unfailing expertise to extend this role to all partners who wish to become the real backbone of telecommunications in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Deploring the behavior of private partners who operate anarchically, Renatelsat continues to hope that they have every interest in regularizing their administrative situation before it is too late.

The rehabilitation and extension program agreed by the National Satellite Telecommunications Network (Renatelsat) board of directors and progressively executed by the management committee continues across the country. Some 100 localities are foreseen in its "point of presence" policy, which will have to be equipped with Internet, telephone, radio, image and transmission services. This was announced to the press on Tuesday, the Technical Director Administrator (Adt) of Renatelsat, Richard Achinda Wahilungula, on the occasion of the day devoted to his company at the Kinshasa International Fair (Fikin 2006).

Confirming the firm desire of its committee to mark its presence in all territories, the Managing Director of Renatelsat, Rémy Lundimu, emphasized the lack of financial resources to face this ambitious program . He appealed to the government to provide this public company with the funds required by New Information and Telecommunications Technology.

For Adt, the execution of the rehabilitation program has already materialized, particularly in Isiro where after 10 years of absence, the Renatelsat has just been operational for more than a month. Currently, work is underway in Lisala, which will also become operational in the next few days. In the same vein, Renatelsat acquired with its own funds a radio and telecommunications transmitter for the town of Fizi, in the province of South Kivu.

The network, which has a modern laboratory and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure remote communication in its capacity as exclusive satellite operator, masters for this the air conditioning and energy problems that arise for any operator from the country. In the near future, the settlement program concerns the localities of Lodja, Shabunda, Bagata, Gemena, Lisala, etc.

Renatelsat has signed agreements with certain audiovisual operators to allow them to carry their broadcasts in a few towns in the interior of the country. These include RTGA, Digital Congo, CCTV, Raga. However, according to Richad Achinda, many operators in the sector are not in good standing with the administration, insofar as, such as a tenant, they are not known by the official responsible for the sector who is none other than the Renatelsat. This is how he called these operators to order, asking them to present their case for the necessary formalities.

Giving details regarding the cutoff of the signal of certain stations broadcasting in the capital, The technical director administrator declared: “As regards local broadcasting in Kinshasa, Renatelsat has nothing to do with . In the event of an outage or recovery, our company has nothing to do with it. Rather, the company Téléconsult is responsible for managing the platform for CCTV, RTGA, RTNC and Digital Congo, in accordance with the agreement signed in 2002 with the government. Another precision relates to the payment, for the Renatelsat, except the RTNC which is a public organ, CCTV, Digital Congo, RTGA etc, operate on our sites, illegally.

Instead of cutting through our services, we simply invite them to come and regularize their situation by paying the rent. Otherwise they will have a formal notice, because it is a shortfall for Renatelsat which offers them the site, the security, the shelter, the personnel expertise, the fuel intended to operate the earth station at the same time. than RTNC.
